"5 years ago Balthazar was born and the planet spun on its axis, the heavens rained forth and angels and demons celebrated and commiserated in equal measure. The only problem is, we didn’t know which side was doing what! Because Balthazar is a wonderful force of nature who refuses to accept that limitations placed on him at birth define his life. Balthazar climbs as high in the trees as his siblings. He dives as deep as them in the pool. He runs as fast as he can and almost matches his 10 year old sister. He chats up a storm (I cannot believe how happy I was when he first said the word “mummy”, now I hide as it’s usually followed with a fiendishly hard question about dinosaurs or about the nose of a stranger standing right next to us as Balthazar asks in his quiet voice that projects to Australia in a second). Balthazar decided he wanted to raise money for Child Bereavement UK and created his drawings for sale with barely any help from his minions. He managed to win the heart of a gorgeous jewellery designer who joined him on his insane journey.
Oh, and Balthazar did all of this despite being registered blind. Never let your fears or the limits placed on you by others define you. Every day, be a little more Balthazar. You might just surprise yourself xxx"
